The NEW & IMPROVED 10 Commandments

According to the Huffington Post:

A Kansas House committee is scheduled to take up a bill Wednesday that would exempt doctors from malpractice suits if they withheld medical information to prevent an abortion. The measure would also take away tax credits for abortion providers, remove tax deductions for the purchase of abortion-related insurance coverage and require women to hear the fetal heartbeat. The bill includes several provisions, which passed in other states and now face federal lawsuits. The bill would also require women be told about potential breast cancer risks from abortions, even though medical experts discount such a connection.

I hate to say it but I am unsurprised by this. The avalanche of anti-abortion rights bills that began last year had me in an uproar when it first began but now it all seems very "same shit different day." It is interesting; however, to see just how "matter of convenience" Christianity has become to so many Christians and Catholics. They're not even trying to hide it anymore. I think somewhere along the way the 10 Commandments were rewritten and only politically active Christians and Catholics got the memo. Given their behavior and the legislation they are trying to get passed, I can pretty much guess what the new set is. Let's have a look shall we.

1. “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me except your anti-abortion crusade for which all my laws may be conveniently ignored.

2. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything to worship other then little plastic fetuses.

3. “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain except when trying to pass a bill. Then do whatever in or to my name you want.

4. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work...unless it's your turn to harass women going into abortion clinic for any reason.

5. “Honor your father and your mother but no body else's.

6. “You shall not murder...unless it's an abortion doctor.

7. “You shall not commit adultery...unless you're trying to seduce an abortion clinic employee so you can get inside it and plant bombs.

8. “You shall not steal anything but a woman's right to make her own choices concerning her health and body.

9. "Thou shall not lie unless it is to keep a woman from making an informed decision concerning her own pregnancies.

10. "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife but you can covet her rights and do whatever underhanded thing you can think of to get them from her.





Now, I have many friends that play the, "I'm a Christian but I don't support all this anti-abortion business." Well I have news for you.

~If you go to a church that openly takes an anti-abortion stance you are helping them by making their ranks look larger then they are.

~If you go to a church that openly takes an anti-abortion stance and you donate to it YOU ARE EMPOWERING THEIR ANTI-ABORTION CRUSADE!

~If you're a Christian or a Catholic and you don't openly, actively and AGGRESSIVELY oppose the anti-abortion actions of other members of that church your silence IS your support!

Many things are being done by Christian & Catholic churches, church members, and politicians in the name or your God right now. If you really care about that God you will take a stand against the abuses taking place in his name. If you're not then; with all due respect, spare me your

bobbing and weaving. Your silence makes you as much a part of the problem as any crazy carrying a sign in front of an abortion clinic. With all this legislation they have drawn the line in the sand. The time to take a stand and fight for what you believe in is NOW because all the bullshit that is being done in your God's name is making him AND YOU look bad.

Cynical Anti-chioce Billboard in Chicago Targets Blacks

The south side of Chicago has a new billboard. Anti-choice groups have decided to target black people by using a highly successful black persons image on a billboard meant to dissuade them from getting the procedure...original I know.

You know, this reminds me of the last presidential election when John McCain chose Sarah FAIL-in as a running mate because the GOP thought women where so dense all you had to do was hold someone with a vagina in front of us to gain our support.

Anyway, the slogan reads

"Every 21 minutes, our next possible leader is aborted"

but I think the mostly religious groups that beat the anti-choice drum are more concerned that the next "savior" could be aborted. I find all this ironic because IF Jesus did exist he was probably closer to the Presidents skin tone then most of the images that depict him today show.

Anti-Abortion Dishonesty & Spinning the Facts

Many pro-”life” proponents have attempted to use the Kermit Gosnell case as a platform for their anti-abortion stance. Here Representative Tim Murphy goes into detail about the gruesome goings-on in the clinic Gosnell called Women's Medical Society at the H.R.358 markup on February 11, 2011.



But let's look a the facts:

Important fact #1 - The clinic had not been thoroughly inspected in 17 years. The grand jury report stated that,

“The Pennsylvania Department of Health abruptly decided, for political reasons, to stop inspecting abortion clinics at all. The politics in question were not anti-abortion, but pro. With the change of administration from Governor Casey to Governor Ridge, officials concluded that inspections would be 'putting a barrier up to women' seeking abortions.”

It also stated that nail salons are more thoroughly inspected. See, now this is what happens when we let political motivations be what drives this issue. The decision to stop inspecting abortion clinics was so foolish I can't even tell you. I don't care if the person making it claims to be on “my side” of this issue what is important is making it SAFE! That's what the reason for making it legal was/is in the first place.



Important fact 2 - Late term abortions are ILLEGAL in Philadelphia which is what Mr. Gosnell was preforming. So when anti-choice politicians try to use this case to make a case against LEGAL abortion they are being deliberately dishonest or are to dumb to be representing anyone. The truth is clinics like the one Gosnell ran are what you get when abortion is illegal.

In response to all this spin a group of Philadelphia abortion providers have spoken out and the message sounds not-so-shockingly familiar to what sex workers rights advocates have been saying about sex work for years, "Making it legal is not enough. We must destigmatize it." I couldn't have said it better myself.





Finally, I want to address a statistic I see thrown around by anti-abortioners often as of late ant that is that 51% of Americans are “Pro-Life.” Is the video below conveys the “pro-life” vs. “pro-choice” dichotomy is actually false. What we should be asking is, “Do you think the woman and her doctor should have jurisdiction over a pregnancy or are you for the illusion that the state can ever really have control over a woman's pregnancy?”




We must remember. Even when we think we have taken all abortion options away a woman can and will resort to a coat hanger and I hope I am right when I say no one wants that.

Abortion Rights Under Attack-Know Your Enemy!

Well the 112th congress is now in session and as promised everyone in America now has a job. Right? LMAO! No. As expected the right made every promise in the book concerning jobs, the economy and everything they knew we wanted to hear & now they are hard at work attacking the rights of women once again. So far there are already four bills being discussed whose only purpose is to limit women's access to safe medical abortions. There are:

This bill called the “No Tax Payer Funding for Abortions Act” should have been named “Rep. Chris Smith is so concerned about what you do with your vagina he doesn't even want you spending your OWN money on it.” That's right.

Even those of us who get tax credits for investing in our own health care savings accounts won't be able to use that money on an abortion if this one passes. Odd really because as Congressman Nadler points out here these religious righties don't consider it public funding when people spend their OWN money on a CHURCH & get a tax credit. Ah wait...most churches are run by men. Of course the religious right doesn't care how they spend their money. If there is a “patriarchy” in America today the religious right is the longest and strongest arm of it after all.

Yes, there is the inflammatory language about “forcible rape” that everyone is outraged about but I think people should be just as outraged by the so-called “Small government” strokers trying to tell women what they can do with their own money. Do we not WORK FOR our own money? Do we not EARN our own money? Or when they say “small government” do they really mean “small government for MEN?" I guess they believe that only men can be trusted to make their own decisions. This really doesn't surprise this sex workers rights advocate. After all, many of the feminists that have been in bed with the religious right for over ten years have been telling them that women can't be trusted to make their own choices as the video below will illustrate.

If ever there was hard proof written ON PAPER that the religious right values a woman ONLY for her birthing value it is H.R.358. This lovely little misogynistic piece of legislation states that if it goes against a doctors conscience to give a woman an abortion EVEN IF SHE WILL DIE WITHOUT ONE that they don't have to do it making the title "Protect Life Act" the misnomer of the fucking century! Do we need any more proof that the religious right sees women as nothing more then brood mares people? Do we really?


Aside from that Joseph Pitts; the Representative that introduce the bill also happened to Chair the Markup hearing on it and it was a fiasco. The Democrats have sent a formal request for the bill to be withdrawn until constitutional authority is added to the bill. Here it is in it's three hour long entirety. Then there is H.R.361.

The little bill that could. I say little because NO ONE but my friend FeministWhore is talking about or has even noticed it. There's not even any money invested in fighting it. This bill would solidify this "conscience clause" stuff. Aren't doctors SUPPOSED to save the lives of their patience? Last I checked that's what being a doctor was all about. It's their JOB to make the tough decisions. Ever hear of a triage nurse?

Last but not least (to my knowledge) There is H.R. 217~

Introduced by Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana. This guy has become my new best friend. There is nothing I love more then a rich, bible thumping MAN attacking what little access to affordable health care women in America have today. This bill is nothing less then a push to defund Planned Parenthood entirely. On what grounds could anyone do such a thing, you might ask. Well, based on videos from LIVE ACTION. Sound familiar? Well that wouldn't surprise me because this is the organization affiliated with James O'Keefe the snot nosed, little misogynistic shit himself. Pretty strong words huh? Well let's look at this kids list of accomplishments

-Dressed as a pimp to attack ACORN

-Quote mined Sheirly Sherrod in order to make her look like a bigot for which she is seeking justice now.

-Sneaking into Senator Mary Landrieu's office to BUG it for which he was arrested.

-and trying to lure CNN corespondent Abbie Boudreau onto a boat fulled with dildos and LUBE in order to fool her into making a sex tape so he could destroy her career and hopefully CNN in the process. For more info on these follies watch this

Is it just me or is EVERYTHING this guy and his organization does misogynistic? Now, I urge you to look at the rest of my posts and see for yourself if I am the type of feminist that throws around the term misogynist freely. You will notice I hardly use that word at all because I want it to MEAN something when I do. It seems like the only two reasons I ever use it are when an anti-porn feminist calls me a whore or when dealing with anything having to do with James O'Keefe. Is this really the sort of element Rep. It's pretty upsetting really which is why I am determined to do everything in my power to FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT! Will you do the same? I certinly hope so. The lives of millions of women around the world are depending on it. Planned parenthood alone helps roughly 11,000,000 women in a year. If that doesn't serve to convince you how about this? This is what happens to women with they don't have access to safe affordable abortions. You may not like abortions but many women will have one one way or another & if you don't want their blood on your hands you best not fight to take their abortion rights away. That is...if you really DO care about life.

Recently Senator Roland Burris (D-Il) introduced an amendment to the Senate Armed Services Committee that was approved to be introduced as a part of the National Defense Authorization Act. This amendment would repeal the current ban that bars women in uniform and dependent women from seeking abortion services in military facilities world wide, except in the case of rape or incest, even if they use their own money.

Currently, if a woman is stationed in a country, or is assigned with a sponsor who is stationed in a country where abortion is not legal, then that woman must obtain leave and funding to find a location where she may obtain such services. This restricts access to women who are living on military budgets, and possibly forces her to divulge private medical information in order to procure that leave. It also means longer absences for women from zones where manning is already low.

Currently, a woman must prove that her pregnancy was the result of rape or incest, stripping the woman of the right to Restricted Reporting options (if she is uniformed) and/or her privacy even if she is civilian. No woman should be forced to report a rape before she is ready to procure a safe, legal procedure. No one should have to trade one privacy for another. Women must pay for these abortions out of pocket on top of this humiliation.

Currently, a doctor or other medical professional must determine if a woman's life is in danger before determining if she may have an abortion, and this is far too subjective to be left to anyone but the woman, especially if current law is going to force the woman to pay for it with her own money. Even if a fetus is determined to be non-viable it will not be induced unless the woman's life is in imminent danger, irrespective of how that might impact her emotional health, because this might be considered an abortive service. This is inhumane and unacceptable treatment.

Opponents of this measure will tell you that it will require additional equipment and staff or force doctors to do procedures they don't want to do. I can tell you that our facilities already have this equipment and staff, and that our medical professionals are already learning how and performing these procedures. Because these are sometimes life-saving procedures they are already prepared to perform these as a part of routine medical care that they have learned.

It is unconscionable to withhold medical procedures that are safe and legal from a woman, especially when she is paying for them with her own money, and I would argue ever, but current regulation allows that to happen to our women in uniform and military dependents. Repealing the ban on abortions in military facilities puts the decision to obtain safe, legal medical procedures back in the hands of the patient, the woman, the ones who are putting on uniforms and defending our country or who are supporting others who do the same.

I implore you to support this repeal when it comes to the Senate for full vote. Do the right thing and give these rights back to the women who fight for them.
